Lessons About What It Means to Be an Entrepreneur

This week we spoke a lot about what it means to be an Entrepreneur. I had a difficult time this week taking in all of the information. But I did learn so much. We read an article called So You Want to Be an Entrepreneur. There was a lot of great information in there that stood out to me. It spoke about the three areas of knowledge that we need to have as entrepreneurs. There are three areas of knowledge that are critical for starting a successful business: In-depth knowledge of the competitive structure of an industry and a network of contacts within that industry The skills to run the daily operations of a small, rapidly growing company;  The ability to raise money For me, these are thing that I would differently need to work towards. I think that I am able to do some of the things that are needed. I currently run the day to day operations at the company I currently work at. But there is for sure a learning curve to get to a place that you feel comfortable.  We ...

Learn how to Learn

This week we watched a video called Hero's Journey. There was a lot of great information that I took away from the video. Brian Clark said that the journey is all about us, but not really about us. That took deep meaning to me. We need to live every moment like it matters. Like Clark said, "It isn't about the prize, but how the hero has changed in the end." He goes on to list out three promises that in the end will be the only thing that matters. Its all part of the journey. Learn how to Learn. The most important thing to take away to learn to listen, learn to ask questions and learn to not be the smartest person in the room. This can be a challenge. I think more of the listening and asking questions part. Something that I know I have to work on a lot. Learn how to make money. This process seems to be the easiest. Most people can figure out this part pretty quickly. Its not hard to make money. It is harder to know what to do with it that really matters. ...

What a week, I feel like I had so much on my mind with everything we spoke about it was hard to grasp at first. This week we finished reaching The Ministry of Business by Steven A Hitz and James W Ritchie. I really enjoyed read this book, and hope one day I can be more like them. We were asked to sit down and write a Personal Constitution. T his document is to help you guide your life. “It provides a way to think about the type of person you’d like to become and then map out how you’ll become that person.” T his document is to help you guide your life. “It provides a way to think about the type of person you’d like to become and then map out how you’ll become that person.” Some of the things that I listed were:  ·          I am like the Savior. I live my life the way that he did. I am forgiving of others as he is. I will return to our Heavenly Father one day the way he did. ·          I am ...

Ethical Guardrails

This week we spoke a lot about ethics. There was so much said that I never really realized would be an important piece of information. We were asked to list three of our "I never" and three of our " I will always" statements. It took a lot of thinking of what would fit me best. Here is what I came up with. I will never : I will never Lie  I will never use power for evil    I will never allow my business to affect my family lif e I will always:        I will always do the right thing no matter the situation        I will be loyal in my duties and with the people closest to me        I will always place family and God about business        This lesson really helped me thing about what kind of business women I want to become and how I want to impact the world, or even just my family, or business. While reading Th Ministry of Business, they spoke about the formula that is...
