Ethical Guardrails

This week we spoke a lot about ethics. There was so much said that I never really realized would be an important piece of information. We were asked to list three of our "I never" and three of our " I will always" statements. It took a lot of thinking of what would fit me best. Here is what I came up with.

I will never :
  1. I will never Lie
  2. I will never use power for evil
  3.  I will never allow my business to affect my family life
I will always:

  1.       I will always do the right thing no matter the situation
  2.       I will be loyal in my duties and with the people closest to me
  3.       I will always place family and God about business

      This lesson really helped me thing about what kind of business women I want to become and how I want to impact the world, or even just my family, or business. While reading Th Ministry of Business, they spoke about the formula that is needed to succeed. There were three key steps;
  1.        Get your education
  2.        Make your mark - in every aspect, church, community, family and business
  3.        Get prepared to be of service - this is something you never hear about.
I have really stared to take these things to heart and figure out if I am going down the right path. In the book it also speaks about finding your mentor. James Ritchie said "By seeking out and adoption good mentors, you fill your life with the people whose support, advice, and real-world, experiential knowledge can lift you about the traps of fear and poor business decision. They will enable you to take the steps necessary to see your brilliant ideas, lofty goals, and professional aspirations come to life."  I loved that line.. I currently really do not have a business mentor. I did find some great tips on how to find a good mentor.

  1.        Find someone you want to be like
  2.        study person
  3.        make the "ask"
  4.        Evaluation the fruit
  5.        follow up after the meeting
  6.        let relationship evolve
  7.        Do not check out when you feel challenged
  8.        press into relationship
  9.        ask for feedback
  10.        commit to the process
