Entrepreneur Interview
This week was a little rough. Between both of my classes there was a lot of work that needed to be done. And I have been working 50-60 hours a week that last few weeks. So it has been challenging to get everything done in time and manage my workload. But I know that in the long run everything is worth it!
The last few weeks we have been working on putting together our Entrepreneur Interview questions and then doing our interview. I chose to interview one of my co-workers. Andrew Woodard is a Senior Project Manager for Team Electric. We are an electrical subcontractor. He is very successful in his position and he is able to bring in a lot of clients/projects and money each year. A few years ago Andrew decided to start his own company. Its kind of a consulting company. He manages several large projects out of state and works with all of the different companies to ensure that the jobs get done. I am still working on putting my paper together, but he has been a great role model for me in how he conducts himself and his business. I have learned a great deal from him.
There were some great messages this week from the readings. I really enjoyed the video License to Pursue Dreams. Marissa Mayer spoke about how Google sets aside 20% of an employee's time for creative projects. They determined that nearly half of the companies most recent launches came from idea's that sparked during this time. Can you imagine, a company giving you time to create your own idea's and turn them into reality. It would be a wonderful opportunity to do that.
I am grateful for this class and it has made me realize so much about myself and possibly what I want to do in the future.
