WEEK 1 INTRODUCTION

Before today, I never would have considered myself an entrepreneur. When I thought of that word, I thought of someone who owed their own business. Never would I have considered it really meant much more than that. Just during the intro week, I have started to learn what an entrepreneur really is. There was so much great information give this week, and it couldn't come at such a pivotal point in my career. I have taken of a new role within my company that could offer great experience for me. I a little nervous and excited at the same time. But the lessons give this week helped me feel so much better about the situation I am walking into. I am very much looking forward to becoming a better employee and a better entrepreneur. I enjoyed all of the information the videos and readings gave about networking. I have a LinkedIn profile and I know now that I really do not use it to its full advantage. I do not network as much as I should be. That provided great insight on how important it is to network and get yourself out there. In the article The Start-Up of You: Executive Summary, it provided great information in a lot of different areas. I have never created a career plan. I am going to work on putting something together and see what it looks like and to see where I want to be in 10 years. I also liked the section about taking intelligent risks. Just like the article said, I always considered a risk as something HUGE like going out a buying a car one day without doing research, but after reading this section we must take risks every day. Its part of life. I would consider my current career path a risk. Its something new, and there is a lot involved in it. But I am super excited. My favorite video of the whole week was the one by Pres. Hinckley. He is such an amazing man, and he always had so much love for everyone. When he said "we have a divine destiny and are capable of doing great, good, and wonderful things. Don't sell yourself short". He gave a lot of great insight, but this was one of my favorite things. I am excited to see what I am going to learn from Jim Ritchie. I enjoyed listening to his introduction. I can't wait to learn how he became the man he is. I am excited to learn how to apply the thing I learn in this class to my career and personal self.

Last Lecture

WOW, the semester is over. I have learned so much in this class. In my last blog, we were asked to give out "last lecture". If I had one final lecture to share with a group, it would be the following. We must decided early on what kind of person you want to be. What do you want your code of conduct to be? What moral compass will you use? And finally, "Who am I" and "Who do I want to become." Two very important questions that we should ask ourselves on a regular basis. The answers will change over time as you grow into the person that you strive to be. I may not know exactly what I want to become at this point, but that is part of the journey that we go through. The key is to believe in yourself and always dream big and take risks. Create your own Personal constitution. Attitude on Money

I had a great week. The lessons this week were very relatable to my current situation. I enjoyed the case study activity. There was some great information shared through the discussion group this week. One person said:  "W ork and family cannot be separated one from the other. We need to work to support our family, and working is an expression of love towards them, providing for them. However, we need to remember that our family needs also to be provided with emotions, love, teachings, that can be provided when we spend time with them." This really touched me. I know there are some areas that I can work better at. It was nice to see that other people had some of the same ideas. The case studies gave me great ways to help support my family and ensure that they are number 1 in my life. I am grateful for that. Leadership with a small "L"

President Kim B. Clark of Brigham Young University–Idaho for their commencement on December 14, 2007 gave a great talk about leadership with a small "l". Leadership it role that has shaped the world. Many have taken up its mantle and left their mark on history.   To be that type of great leader you have to   Lead by example   Lead with Vision  Lead with Love. I strive to lead this way today and every day. It is not always easy, but it is something that I work towards every day. I feel like the third principle is the most important. When you show people that you care, it means that you are strive to lift them higher and are doing more for them, than just using them for you own selfish means. Leadership will always be about others and a great leader puts much attention towards that.  I have learned so much in the last 8 weeks.
