Stars & Steppingstones
This week we took a hard look at what we want to do when we grow up. This was difficult for me, because I feel like I never took the time to actually figure it out. But it was good to sit down and think about what I have done in my life and where I want my career to go. We were able to chart out our steps and our steppingstones that will get us to where we want to me. It was exciting. My favorite quote from the week was:
"Picking your own star involves understanding what is important to you in life, and what is likely to remain important."
This week, we also put together our bucket list. Man it was so hard to think of 50 things... But it was so much fun thinking about all the things I want to do in life. My top three things were: Graduate from BYU-I, take a vacation to Hawaii, and get married in the temple. I really enjoyed listening the the lecture that Randy Pausch gave. I actually went back and listened to the whole thing. What a strong man. He gave so much because he wanted to make the world a better place. He created such strong relationships with everyone. Because of these things he was able to accomplish so much in his life.
We were asked the question if we think dreaming is important. I 100% believe that dreaming is important. If you do not have a dream, then how to do you know where you want go in life. If you dream that you can do something and if you put your mind to do, then there is nothing stopping your from it. Everyone needs to dream. When I was young, one of my dreams was to be a teacher. I wanted to teach kindergarten. My specific dream did not come true because I did not take the steps to make that happen. I did not go to college right after high school. Instead I thought my life had another plan. But it is always something that I regret because it was something I know I would have loved to do.
So there was much great information this week. I started reading the Ministry to Business, and Steve and Ginger are amazing people. I can not wait to finish the book, as I have already learned so much from them.
